Because of the raucous and hilarious festivities, those who wear contact lenses may even forget that they are actually wearing them, making it even harder for themselves and their eyes.
The increased use of synthetic pigments rather than natural pigments in recent years has made contact lens wearers even more vigilant.

The free spirit of Holi celebrations almost inevitably takes some degree of damage, however minor or limited, to our eye health. From minor irritation and abrasions to redness and itching to allergies to infections to eye inflammation, the vibrant and energetic game of color can have a huge health cost on our eyes.
Most colors popular today are usually synthetic and contain toxic substances such as industrial dyes and other harmful chemicals. Some other harmful ingredients used in colored pastes today include lead oxide, copper sulfate, aluminum bromide, Prussian blue, and mercury sulfite.Likewise, dry pigments and gurals contain asbestos, silica, lead, chromium, cadmium, etc., all of which are harmful to eye health.
For those who wear contact lenses, they should know that the lenses absorb color. As a result, the colors tend to stick to the surface of the lens, prolonging their stay in the eye.Given that most of these colors contain toxic chemicals, the effects on the eyes can be severe. The chemicals can damage or even cause the loss of epithelial cells, the protective layer of the cornea that can have spillover effects on other parts of the eye.For example, the iris of the eye can become severely inflamed.
Secondly, if you must wear contact lenses and cannot avoid using them, you can use disposable daily lenses. However, remember to put on your new lenses after the festivities.
Third, don’t let any powder or paste get into your eyes, even if you’re wearing daily-disposable lenses.
Fourth, if you forget to remove your lenses and have a slight feeling that your eyes may have absorbed chemicals from the color, you must immediately discard the lenses and buy new lenses for daily use only.Remember not to attempt to clean the same lens and continue wearing it.
Fifth, replace contact lenses with glasses if possible. This is because unlike lenses, glasses keep a distance from the actual eye.
Sixth, if any color gets into your eyes, please rinse immediately with water without rubbing your eyes.
Seventh, before going out for Holi, consider applying a cold cream around the eyes, which can easily scrape the color off the outer surface of the eyes.
