Young man goes blind after sleeping with ‘coyote’ wearing contact lenses [Video]

When you wear contact lenses or lenses (which make your pupils appear different colors), there are always recommendations to avoid certain accidents, but some may recommend wearing them for a while longer.
Well, that’s exactly what happened to a young man who decided to lie down or take a nap while wearing contact lenses, without thinking about the serious consequences this could lead to.
Mike Krumholz tells his story via Tiktok, but most importantly, he shows the consequences of sleeping with contact lenses. Metropoli Sedesa invites you to consult a hospital ophthalmologist for the prevention of glaucoma
In his video, he showed an eye irritation that was causing him a lot of discomfort, but when he went to the doctor, he was misdiagnosed, which made his discomfort worse, but most importantly: yes, he lost his vision.
For Mike, the terrifying moment began on December 19 when he took a nap of less than an hour while wearing contact lenses, so he decided to speak out about his experience and share the story with more people.
He commented: “I took them off and went to the ophthalmologist the next day because I thought I had conjunctivitis and wanted to get the medicine as quickly as possible.”
Doctors misdiagnosed him with HSV1 (herpes simplex virus 1) in his right eye and treated him for the “virus” for a month. He said he was tired of hearing that “it’s just a very persistent virus, but it will go away.”
So he later went to another clinic and they discovered he had a corneal ulcer and prescribed him steroids, which was a big mistake because the pain continued to get worse quickly.

What prompted the doctors to perform a culture on his eyes came back negative, so he had to visit the doctor frequently as he gradually lost his vision.
So he advises, “If you’re going through this right now, my best advice is to always have an ice pack ready to put on your eyes. Don’t waste your time taking a lot of Advil, Taylonal doesn’t help. eyes hurt. Now I’m taking meloxicam, so far it’s a miracle.”
This does not mean that all situations are the same, but you should always follow the instructions, and most importantly, do not self-medicate. Double visual fatigue syndrome is on the rise: excessive exposure to screens affects everyone
Mike highlighted that after 5 visits to different ophthalmologists and 2 cornea specialists, he was diagnosed with a very rare eye parasite called amoebic keratitis, caused by the genus Acanthamoeba, and very painful.
Amoebic keratitis is the most common clinical manifestation of acanthamoeba infection. It is characterized by pain and disability. Progression of the infection can lead to corneal ulcers and, in severe cases, blindness.
